David M. Kipnis, MD
Dr. Kipnis is the Distinguished University Professor of Medicine, Professor of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology and chairman emeritus of the Department of Internal Medicine at Washington University’s School of Medicine.
Dr. Kipnis is internationally known as
a pioneer in diabetes research, focusing on the mechanisms
of insulin action, the fundamental pathogenic mechanisms
responsible for the various forms of diabetes mellitus, the
regulation of carbohydrates and the protein metabolism in
isolated cellular systems and in the intact organism and
the signal transduction pathways involved in hormone actions.
Dr. Kipnis is a member of the National
Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine and the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences. |
